How do you get over losing a dog?

hi, i have or had this dog names copper he was 100% red healer. i loved him so much! but my parents said he was getting us into too much trouble and they took him to the pound. :( later we found out that he got entered into a program that helps rescue people. imagine that my dog a rescuer! i miss em so much. what can i do to get it off my mind
