Recently am being harrased by a yahoo messenger pop up every time I go to yahoo mail.?

I have to X out the pop out before I can open any mail. I do not use messenger nor any social net working options. To many examples of adverse, compromised accounts have occurred for me trust them with my business and sensitive info. How can I oppt-out of messenger?
