What are skateboard bearings used for?

they allow the wheel to spin freely, while not damaging the axle or wheel. If the wheel were attached directly to the axle, the friction would be massive. It would damage the wheels, and you wouldn't be able to coast at all. In a way, they're the biggest factor in skateboard performance. With a lousy set of bearings, you feel like you can't even coast down hills. most skate bearings come with an "ABEC" rating. For some reason, they come in 1, 3, 5, 7, and occasionally 9. This rating tells you the level of precision the bearing is made with. usually, this translates into faster bearings. Unfortunately, this isn't always true. The best way to find out the best bearings is to ask others. The incredibly popular Bones bearings don't even have an ABEC rating. Besides the Bones, other amazing bearings include Rock'n Ron's, Biltin bearings, and Oust bearings.
